Anki & Eric's Wedding

Part 1: A Sunlit Ceremony by Tegernsee

Their first wedding event took place in March 2024, at the Standesamt in Tegernsee – a gorgeous location with a backdrop of the lake and the mountains. The day was unseasonably warm, with bright sunshine that lit up the lake and made for absolutely stunning photos. Anki wore a simple yet elegant white dress with three-quarter sleeves, and Eric went for a laid-back business casual vibe, sporting a suit paired with a turtleneck and sneakers.

We started with a couples' shoot by the lake before their ceremony. Anki and Eric were completely in sync, laughing and holding each other close. For a photographer, moments like these are pure magic – there’s no need for staged poses when a couple is naturally this comfortable together. After their brief ceremony at 11:30 AM, they celebrated with close family and friends. It was an intimate gathering of 16 guests, and the joyful energy was palpable.

As a photographer, smaller gatherings like these offer a rare opportunity to capture the emotions of each guest. You can feel the love, the closeness, and the joy that fills the space when two people are surrounded by those who truly know and support them.

Part 2: Grand Celebration at Schloss Hohenkammer

Fast forward to September 2024, when Anki and Eric’s larger wedding celebration took place at Schloss Hohenkammer. The castle, with its beautiful grounds and adjoining hotel, was the ideal venue for their international guests. Many of Anki and Eric’s friends and family traveled from Hamburg, with others coming from as far as France, Portugal, and Sweden. This made the castle’s on-site accommodations invaluable, as everyone could relax and enjoy the festivities without worrying about logistics.

The big day kicked off at 1 PM with the end of the “getting ready” phase. This time is always a favorite for me as a photographer – it’s a chance to capture the anticipation and excitement, the laughter with friends, and those quiet, reflective moments just before everything begins. Anki and Eric’s ceremony started at 2 PM, set against the beautiful lake on the grounds of Schloss Hohenkammer. An ancient oak tree provided shade, creating a magical ambiance that was only enhanced by a live string quartet, which put a unique twist on modern songs.

The ceremony was heartfelt, and there wasn’t a dry eye in sight. Anki and Eric exchanged vows under the wide blue sky, with their loved ones seated by the water’s edge. They wanted a meaningful experience, and the setting created a perfect backdrop for their commitment to each other.

After the ceremony, we captured a few couple portraits while the guests enjoyed a reception filled with laughter, good wine, and heartfelt congratulations. If there’s one thing I always recommend for wedding photos, it’s to carve out a few moments for sunset shots. Thankfully, Anki and Eric agreed, and we took a short break at sunset to capture the two of them in that soft, golden light – a breathtaking end to their photoshoot.

The reception that followed was lively, filled with an eclectic mix of guests waving napkins to welcome the newlyweds into the dining hall. There were heartfelt speeches, games, and an exquisite dinner. With each course, you could see the care that Anki and Eric had put into crafting a memorable experience for their guests.

The evening wrapped up with a fun twist – a flash mob organized by their friends that took everyone, including Anki and Eric, by surprise. It was the perfect blend of emotional and joyful moments, embodying the couple’s fun-loving spirit and their connection to each other and their friends.
